Child Abuse Perspectives and News

Child Abuse Stories Make Me Sick

child abuse and neglect, child abuse stories There are two kinds of people on this earth who don’t deserve the air we breathe. One of them is sex offenders and the other is child abusers. These types of people are cut from the same tainted cloth because often they are guilty of both those charges. After all the publicity the convicted rapist has been stirring up after being caught for the kidnapping of a little girl something like 11 years ago who he locked up in a dirty shed in his back yard, child abuse stories again came to the forefront of news.

I think this is a great thing because as sick as child abuse stories make me they are great for stirring up awareness, generating money for child abuse and neglect charities and showing off the faces of the despicable human beings who commit these acts. Seeing what an abuser looks like really highlights how there is no way to tell who is doing what. Any visible signs of child abuse and neglect have to be addressed right after they are seen. If it is a false alarm the parents should having nothing to worry about.

Child Abuse Stories Need to be Heard

child abuse stories     Child Abuse Stories

There is nothing more disturbing to me than child abuse stories, except actual child abuse. I find that I cannot watch TV shows or read book that involve child abuse with out becoming sick to my stomach. Child abuse stories make me extremely angry and helpless at the same time. I have a very strong opinion about it. I just don’t understand people who can do this to their children, or any child for that matter. Children should be protected, not harmed.

There are two main problems. One is that people don’t want to involve themselves. They see something that bothers or disturbs them but instead of investigating it or reporting it they come up with some logical explanation to explain things away. I would rather be the person who cried wolf than find out I should have reported it and did not. Two, child abuse is usually hidden. Children are trained not to tell or admit it is happening. Child abuse stories need to be heard, and be used to wake people up. Make them understand that it is really happening. Child abuse is one of those things people would rather not know about. Maybe one store being shared will help others identify a child who needs help, and motivate them to offer that helping hand. As adults it is our job to protect children, even when they are not ours.

Love is the Best Defense Against Child Abuse and Neglect

child abuse and neglect, pictures of child abuseA teacher-friend of mine, Erika, decided on an teaching at an elementary school in the inner city over a private school in the suburbs because she knew she could make more of a difference there.  She had previously been a social worker in an urban area and knew the types of abuse which occurred within the city limits.  Erika said that while there were times she reported abuse, and gave those kids as much love and attention as she could while they were in her charge, there were cases of child abuse and neglect that went undetected and therefore, unreported.  These children ran to her with arms flung wide every morning, desperate for her approval and hug.  Erika believed that was the best remedy for the kids who suffered severe neglect and condemnation from their families, and I have to agree with her.

There are many types of child abuse that go unreported because witnesses just don't know if the child abuse and neglect they have witnessed qualifies as reportable.  But if you suspect that any child is being physically or mentally abused or neglected, please report the abuse to your local authorities.  You can choose to remain anonymous for your own safety, but you will be getting that child the help he/she may need before it becomes too late.

It helps to have more than just child abuse stories in hand for the authorities.  If you are able to attain pictures of child abuse you believe is occurring, photographs will help build a case against the parents in favor of removal of the child from the home.  Child abuse pictures and stories should always be turned into the proper authorities.

Understanding Child Abuse and Neglect

child abuse stories, child abuse and neglect   Child Abuse and Neglect

There was a TV special showing child abuse stories. It was all about the horrible things people have survived as children. It also had some stories about kids that did not survive. I found it very difficult to watch. Yet I know that people need to understand that child abuse stories are real, not urban myths. There are so many children on the streets to escape the abuse from home. People assume that they are just bad kids who did not want to live with the rules at home. More often they ran away and stayed away because what is on the street is not worse then what is waiting for them at home. That says a lot about what horrible things go on unseen. I can tell a few child abuse stories of my own. I am a survivor. My stepfather used to hold my head underwater until I blacked out. It started when I was four. It ended in sexual abuse and an attempt to kill me when I was 12. I say that I survived but have never really lived.
I have continued to try and educate myself about child abuse and neglect over the years and found the internet to be a wealth of information.  This information has helped me heal.

Are Obese Children Victims Of Child Abuse And Neglect?

Child abuse photographs generally show pictures of children who appear to be bruised, bloody, frightened and neglected. We don’t usually consider that something like this could be considered one of the many child abuse photographs:

Perhaps you do not think that allowing a child to consistently overeat until he or she becomes significantly overweight actually constitutes child abuse and neglect. After all one could argue that those parents who indulge their child’s desire for sugary or fatty snacks give in only because they love them. Well I don’t think that the parents of significantly overweight children are guilty of deliberate child abuse and neglect, but they definitely aren’t doing their children any favors when they allow them to eat exactly what they want whenever they fancy it.

To allow a child to become as overweight as the boy pictured above is to doom them to a short unhealthy life. Childhood obesity leads to potentially fatal diseases like type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular problems such as atherosclerosis that can lead to an early heart attack or stroke. Therefore if your child is significantly overweight you need to help them amend their diet and lifestyle in order to get rid of those extra pounds.

Anger Management And Child Abuse

Poor anger management is the primary cause of physical abuse resulting in serious injury or death of children. In 2004, it is estimated that 1,490 children died due to child abuse or neglect. Over 80% of the children who were killed were younger than four years old, approximately 12% were four to seven years old, 4% were eight to eleven years old, and 3% were twelve to seventeen years old.

Shaken Baby Syndrome, an injury directly related to poor anger management skills, in which a parent, usual… Continue

Hi Folks- Just thought I would share some news from the front lines in California.

We've posted the audio from our historic hearing on AB 612- the CA bill we've put forth to eliminate the use of Parental Alienation or other unscientific theories in family court. Thanks to all who made the trip- we had an AMAZING turnout that kept the bill alive, despite intentions… Continue

The Gifts Come to Us

Please stop by my blog sometime, it's new yet hopefully will be able to help someone overcome the effects of child abuse trauma. http://stopthestorm.wordpress.com/ My mother suffered a psychotic break while delivering me in 1951 and believed I was not human, that I was the devil's child sent as a curse upon her life. Her abuse of me was continual and pervasive, and lasted from my 1st breath until I left home at 18. My experience and research has convinced me that the Harvard Medical School resea… Continue

Speechless

My Name Is Sasha
My Sister Is Leigh
I am six
And she is three
Our dads always mad
He screams and he yells
I don’t think he likes us
It's Easy to tell
Mums only kind
When dads not around
And when he is home
She hardly makes a sound
Mums always out,
Never home
Dads always drunk,
And always alone
As soon as we hear
Those jingly keys
We run and hide
We run and plea
We find a place
And curl up tight
I hold her hand
And she holds mine
And soon enough
Dad then walks in
Don’t make a sound, do… Continue
